Retro spring make-up with 50s curls
Make-up and hairstyles from the 30s, 40s and 50s undergo constant revivals and have influenced countless current subcultures and celebrity looks; just think of burlesque dancer Dita von Teese, for example, who embodies the characteristic pin-up look from the 50s.
I absolutely adore watching old Hollywood movies such as Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn or High Society with Grace Kelly. What could be more stylish than a perfectly made up leading lady with her hair coiffed into soft, bouncy curls (plus, these characters always wear gloves when leaving the house – how chic!). Now, I don't long to live in those decades since luckily women have a few more options these days than being an obedient housewife. However, that won't stop me from emulating a beautiful vintage look from time to time. This hairstyle takes a bit of time, but is actually really easy to achieve, and I am not at all a whizz with the curling iron.
If you'd like to know how it works, watch the following YouTube video – it's short and sweet but tells you everything you need to know. All credit to Amanda from Youtube channel Milabu - it's great, check it out!
For the make up, I did a smoky eye with pink shades and used my favourite eyeliner,Glam Eyes by Rimmel (I've tried many and I find this one delivers the most precise line). The candy pink lip colour was achieved with a combination of MUA lipstick in Tulip and the Lancome Juicy Shaker lipgloss in Mangoes Wild.
Before you leave the house, make sure to use lots of hairspray or you will have to say goodbye to your curls in mere minutes!
